Sandia Fields

I have driven Highway 550 so many times from Colorado to New Mexico, but this more distant view of the Sandia Mountains west of San Ysidro caught me by surprise one day. The bare trees along the Rio Salado seemed stunning between the mountains and the foreground juniper trees. I added a rustic barbed-wire fence to the large foreground of sage and other desert brush. In many ways, it is my favorite painting to-date of the Sandias.
